Fairbourne that was supposed to flood. Council decided to let the sea reclaim it. Then it didnt flood and the council said how awkward. The village of Fairbourne in Wales was initially expected to be abandoned to the sea due to climate change and rising sea levels. The council decided to let the sea reclaim the land, but then the flooding didn’t occur as predicted. This unexpected turn of events left the council feeling awkward. Background Fairbourne is a small village with a population of around 700 people, situated on a low-lying saltmarsh and facing multiple flooding risks. In 2014, authorities identified it as the first coastal community in the UK to be at high risk of flooding due to climate change. The government predicted faster sea level rises and more frequent and extreme storms due to global warming, stating that it could only afford to keep defending the village for another 40 years. Council’s Decision In 2013, Gwynedd Council decided that it could not defend Fairbourne from the elements in the long-term. The council, along with Natural Resources Wales, had spent over £6m on a flood risk management scheme in the area in the past four years. However, a Shoreline Management Plan for the west of Wales raised concerns over the future sustainability of the defence of Fairbourne. Uncertainty and Awkwardness The council’s decision to let the sea reclaim Fairbourne was met with uncertainty and awkwardness when the flooding didn’t occur as predicted. The village’s residents were left wondering about their future and the fate of their homes. The situation highlighted the challenges and complexities of addressing climate change and its impact on coastal communities.
i love this man
Who can say know to Dr Who and Malcolm Tucker telling them to vote!
No one can deliver a monologue like this man!
‘Laugh hard, run fast, be kind’
it's giving In the Forest of the Night
They didn't even bother mentioning Reform's climate policies because they're so terrible.
Interesting. Hopefully, we will start allowing dissenting voices to enter into the discussion. I say that as someone who gave up her last car in 1999. I have voluntarily walked and used public transport ever since because I believed that humans are changing the climate. The events in 2020 - and yes I mean covid - where any discussion was suppressed and people were called 'selfish' and 'bad' because they wanted to disagree with certain measures - all of that led me to have doubts about whether or not human-caused climate change is actually happening. "If they're misrepresenting covid like this, what else are they misrepresenting? And who is 'they' anyway? Probably people who thought they were 'doing good.'" Yup. All that took a 'believer' and made me into what is now labelled a 'denier' - even though I do not deny the possibility of human-caused climate change. Rather I simply want us to look at this from all angles, and consider all the effects of measures taken, and just allow everyone's voice to be heard. And I mean every single one of us - even if we strongly disagree with their perspective. Hopefully, there won't be calls for 'consequences' for 'climate deniers' people who want to talk about this - similar to the 'repercussions' for those who refused the vaccine. I could go on and on and on. But I'll stop here. Maybe you even read my comment and didn't 'report' me to YT for my 'wrongthink.'
i find it sad that the rankings are based purely on climate and ecological promises ecology with class struggle is gardening, so is ignoring all societal issue on racism and hate towards another in general
Malcolm Tucker's calmed down

If Green wasn't anti-nuclear they would be perfect.
governments need to wake up to the safety and efficiency of nuclear power

I love Doctor Who :D
Great speech as always Doctor! I thought you'd like green
Taking care of the environment is good and all but there are more immediate issues right now with an all time high on mental illnesses, suicide, housing, income and overall quality of life issues which are all more immediate than climate change. we wont destroy the climate for another 10,000 years we will only destroy ourselves, earth and everything else will survive way past civilisation. yeah we need to make some changes but humanity is dumb and stuck to the digital world rather than caring about the real world, fix that first fix what our children are being taught and brought up on adding another 2 trillion to our national debt to help a doomed cyberman future is pointless
Green's stance on nuclear and their inability to make pain now, gian later decisions inhibits them from having any real impact on climate.
How about voting for the people rather than drumming on about the climate which probably isn't an issue
As if the climate didn't affect the people. Huh.
@@Daniel-hf3oz the climate has ALWAYS affected people and it will continue to affect people. Always has done, always will do and there's nothing you or I or any government can do about it.
@@Halebopp97 Oh, I see. So you don't believe that our governments actions have any impact over the climate and the environment at all?
@@Daniel-hf3oz "our governments actions"??? Lots of things have an impact on the climate. Not sure how the government does though. That's a new one. Please tell me you aren't messed up in mass hysteria?
@@Halebopp97 Deciding if we should keep investing in fossel fuel, for example? Or maybe implementing CO2 reduction measures? Just to name 2 instances of government led decisions that could possibly shift an entire country's impact on our globe.

By the looks of it... A great outcome. Thanks Peter!
Look, we need fewer of those stupid windmills, not more, then we can figure out more effective ways of winning people over. Ditch the left-wing stuff, and we can talk.
Something has me doubting that Greenpeace would back Reform, despite them being the strongest pro-nuclear party and thus the only feesible option for actually attaining their climate goals.
Bollocks Peter. The Uniparty that is Labour/Conservative will do nothing (nothing!) significant to improve the environment. The Lib Dems and Greens were captured many years ago by virtue signalling ideolgues (as was Greenpeace in the early to mid 90's) and are yesterdays children. You want change, get real and vote Reform (eg they advocate modular nuclear).
